Castleton residents have a brand-new reason to get together. After an extensive, future-proof refurbishment by H Bell & Sons, Castleton Community Centre officially reopened on 13th February 2025 with a celebratory ribbon-cutting led by the Mayor of Rochdale and local Councillor Billy Sheerin.
Inside, everything feels fresh and purpose-built. The revitalised library now welcomes readers of every age with bright décor, comfortable seating and improved accessibility—meaning book clubs, homework groups and quiet-study sessions can thrive. Across the corridor a light-filled dance studio—with clean lines, lots of natural light and flexible sliding doors that expand or subdivide the studio—offers the perfect backdrop for local fitness classes, youth dance troupes and wellbeing sessions.
A brand-new kitchen and upgraded facilities give staff and volunteers a brighter, safer place to work.
Behind the scenes, H Bell & Sons completely rewired, rebuilt and redecorated the interior, while exterior repairs will safeguard the building for decades to come. That investment translates into lower running costs, improved safety and a smaller carbon footprint—freeing up funds that can be channelled straight back into grassroots projects.
The result is a fit-for-purpose hub where neighbours can meet, learn, exercise and celebrate—supporting social connection, lifelong learning and healthier lifestyles right in the heart of Castleton.
