National Apprenticeships Week 2024

National Apprenticeship Week 2024 Springhill Hospice

Supporting tomorrow’s construction workforce

H Bell & Sons have been supporting National Apprenticeships Week 2024, running from 5th to 11th February. The annual event aims to raise awareness of the benefits that apprenticeships offer to young people and to employers.

It’s a fantastic chance for students to learn about apprenticeships, explore their options and network with potential employers. It’s the ideal time to discover what the best options are.

There’s a schedule of online and in person events across the UK for National Apprenticeship Week.

At H Bell & sons, we recruit apprentices from Hopwood Hall College every year, helping us to build our business, and giving a firm foundation and skills to young people for the rest of their lives. Many of our own workforce have grown with us, starting as apprentices and staying with us for many years.

On Monday 5th February we donated materials to Springhill Hospice, alongside our supply chain partners including Jewson Rochdale. Apprentices from Hopwood Hall College are spending the week completing essential maintenance at the Hospice including laying new paving flags, and building new features in the gardens for patients, family and staff to enjoy into the future.

There will be a new Japanese-style garden area and planters where the Hospice can grow food to use in their own kitchens – a healthy and sustainable way to grow the freshest ingredients.

On Wednesday 7th February our own Louise Scott attended the Apprenticeships Open Evening at Hopwood Hall College, where a number of local businesses met with students who are considering an apprenticeship as their next step. It was good to be able to offer these young people some advice on the best ways to make themselves stand out from the crowd, and to meet some of tomorrow’s young workforce.
